synopsis
With the aid of Kyla, a warm and friendly African American girl, viewers and listeners are taken on a guided mediation experience in a safe and calming space where children and adolescents can discover tools for emotional regulation, self-compassion, and inner strength.

OBJECTIVE
Through gentle guidance and culturally affirming content, The Black Child Expressed Podcast’s mission is to help children develop healthy coping strategies that will serve them as they navigate big emotions, practice mindfulness, and find peace in during life’s challenges. Our goal was to make sure this translated seamlessly across the audio and visual elements of the podcast.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The Black Child Expressed Podcast was created to support young people of color. As such, conveying the softness and sweet nature of “Kyla” through a character bearing physical traits a young child of color could recognize themselves with became paramount in this project.
HOW WE MADE IT HAPPEN
Blending motion graphics and 2D animation, RDV Media brought Kyla and The Black Child Expressed Podcast to the main stage with this soothing audio-visual experience.
