synopsis
SOME OF US ARE BRAVE: INTERVIEWS AND CONVERSATIONS WITH SISTAS ON LIFE, ART AND STRUGGLE is a 2-volume collection of interviews that amplifies the voices of Black women across a range of lived experiences, activism, scholarship, and creativity. It grew out of a long-running radio program and preserves conversations that address racism, misogynoir, patriarchy, and resistance while highlighting the power of Black women’s testimony and organizing.
objective
Elevate an overlooked perspective.
Our goal was to convey the book’s timeliness, historical significance, and feminist perspectives, while shining a spotlight on the range of women represented — establishing the books as both reflective and politically grounded, to make viewers want to hear these voices in full.

TARGET AUDIENCE
These books are a powerful resource for readers interested in Black studies, feminism, oral history, and social justice, as such, we went into pre-production with them in mind.
Additionally, because they are a collection of conversations with notable cultural and political figures, our hope was for the trailer to especially resonate with audiences drawn to thought-provoking non-fiction centered on underrepresented voices.
HOW WE MADE IT HAPPEN
Through uptempo sound design and quick-moving motion graphics, RDV Media handled the production and voice-over artist procurement to craft this fun, yet informative book trailer.

Thandisizwe Chimurenga’s SOME OF US ARE BRAVE: INTERVIEWS AND CONVERSATIONS WITH SISTAS ON LIFE, ART AND STRUGGLE, Volumes 1 & 2 are available now through Daraja Press, Barnes & Nobles, and Amazon.
