NINE LIVES OF A BLACK PANTHER: A STORY OF SURVIVAL is a memoir by the late, former Black Panther Party member Wayne Pharr and Dr. Karin L. Stanford about Pharr’s time with the Los Angeles-based organization, centered on the intense 1969 SWAT attack on the Panthers’ headquarters and the group’s fight to survive it. The book combines an inside account of political struggle, community defense, and the dangers faced by one of the most embattled chapters of the Black Panther Party.

Our goal with this book trailer was to convey the urgency and high stakes of the Black Panther Party’s Los Angeles struggle while positioning the book as a firsthand survival story. Its main objective was to draw viewers into the memoir’s dramatic conflict, highlight its historical importance, and signal that the book offers an intimate, inside perspective on a pivotal moment in Black liberation history
