CHARACTER DESIGN

RDVM-3D-CHAR-SLIDER4

2D animation has long held a special place in the worlds of entertainment, education, and advertising. From Disney classics to modern indie animations, 2D animated characters bring stories to life with their unique visual appeal and expressiveness.

At their core, 2D animated characters are two-dimensional representations of a people, animals, or objects designed for animation.

These characters are defined by two primary dimensions — height and width — without any depth, which differentiates them from their 3D counterparts.

3D animated characters are digital representations created using computer-generated imagery (CGI) technology.

Unlike traditional 2D animations, which are flat and limited in viewpoint, 3D animations provide depth and dimension, allowing for a more realistic and immersive experience.

These characters can be anything from quirky, cartoon-like figures to hyper-realistic representations of human beings, animals, or fantastical creatures.

Creating a memorable 2D animated character requires attention to several design elements that contribute to its visual appeal, personality, and storytelling capability.

A character’s design should resonate with their backstory and personality.

Every line, shape, and color should serve as a reflection of who they are and what their journey entails.

3D animated characters can take many forms, including:

– Brand Mascots — Characters specifically designed to represent a brand’s identity.

– Avatars — Personalized representations of users or customers in a virtual space.

– Story Characters — Protagonists or antagonists within narrative-driven content.

– Explainer Characters — Friendly guides used in educational or promotional videos, simplifying complex information.

1. Pre-production

Laying the right foundation is essential to building any strong structure. Pre-production is where we figure out the best plan for your business. We decide on the concept(s), look, feel and style; and lock down all the details involved with how the content is going to sound and perform.

2. production

Now that we have the road map developed, it’s time to put it all together. This is where we do what we do best – create amazing content.

3. POST-production

Here’s where the magic happens. Through editing we shape your story. Depending on the package selected, we add music, create text graphics and make sure your content looks how we planned in pre-production. It’s at this stage that you’ll see the first cut.

4. Revisions

Once you’ve seen the first cut, you’ll have a chance to share your thoughts with us. There are up to five rounds of revisions (depending on package selected) allowed at this stage, within reasonable expectations and within the scope of the original video concept(s).

5. THE FINAL OK

With the final cuts complete and your approval signed-off, we create high quality files of your content that can be used for a variety of formats, be it for web or television.
